Renaud Schmitt aka RENSMUSIC begun his musical studies at an early age: "I was born with music running in my blood. " remarks Renaud. But there was a particular childhood event that has launched Renaud's fascinating musical journey, and remarkable career as a composer:
When Renaud was but five years of age he accompanied his parents to an elegant dinner outing in Paris. At the soiree of live entertainment and refreshments, immediately among a busy crowd one man in particular stood out to the boy. It was the pianist that had captivated the child's impressionable mind. Awed and mesmerized by the dexterity of skillful fingers running up and down the keys, Renaud pointed out the pianist to his parents and in an awe-struck voice uttered under his breath: "I want to do that!"
From that day on Renaud's musical studies began with a private keyboard and solfeggio instructor and continued in the manner up until the age of thirteen. Consequently Renaud was enrolled into the National Conservatory of Strasbourg (Conservatoire National de Strasbourg) one of the most renowned and prestigious in France. For the five years that followed Renaud studied classical music, harmony, and solfeggio under the supervision of a highly acclaimed professor André Stricker.
In the following years Renaud continued his musical studies at the University of Musicology at Strasbourg (L'Universite de Musicologie de Strasbourg) where he studied for an additional six years. His curriculum covered all musical genres emphasizing solfeggio, harmony, arranging, and composition. Renaud concluded his studies with a master thesis on 'Harmonic Singing' - a dissertation on the healing and therapeutic properties of sound waves and frequencies.
Renaud's influences are broad and span a variety of styles. Ranging from orchestral film music to pop, rock, new age, ambient dreamy electronica, and world music. Under the inspiration of James-Newton Howard and Danny Elfman Renaud expanded his horizons and began composing music for film - mixing symphonic, electronic and world-music into the finest tapestry of intricate harmony.
After getting his feet wet and a taste for the real world Renaud began working professionally and has composed music for a number of plays and documentaries, that have enjoyed high acclaim nationwide in his native France and beyond. In addition for several years Renaud played the trumpet in an orchestra, and tours with several choirs ranging in size from 30 to 250 choirists of which he is the conductor.
Renaud Schmitt is a versatile composer, who works with and composes for children's orchestras, conducts several adult choirs, writes music for singers and performers, and composes music and overtures for spectacles and plays. In addition Renaud has composed extensively for documentaries and short films gaining experience in sound editing and synchronization.
At the dawn of his career Renaud Schmitt (RENSMUSIC) has already under his sleeve years of schooling, and a handful of experiences qualifying him as a professional capable of working under pressure and deliver professional results.
